Palin? How the heck do I pronounce this? Pay-len? Pal-lan? Paladin? Usually I feel pretty knowledgeable about political thinga ma jings, but man did I feel silly when I never even knew Palin existed until McCain picked her. I suppose I didn’t really know anything about Obama either until he started running for president. Of course, that was 18 months ago, and before I read his biography. The first thing I did was go over to Wikipedia because I’m sure the liberal anonymous public posted some truthiness on her. Sadly I was left underwhelm. With the exception of a minor scandal and her selling the governors plane on Ebay I really left feeling empty. I couldn’t even find her opinion on Iraq or really anything foreign policy related. Though according to Faux News she should be an expert since Alaska is right up there next to Russia. I guessPetropavlovsk-Kamchatsky acts as an Orange level threat from the Russians, and we put only our top obscure politicians in Alaska to defend our god given rights from those damn Commies.
Bear in mind the following reasoning is targeted at pretty much all Hillary and McCain supporters who criticized Obama for his lack of experience. Anyway, so let’s discredit the following opinion. Sarah Palin is not running for president she is only running for VP so her experience or lack there of isn’t an issue. FALSE. In case you all haven’t realized McCain is really old. We aren’t talking early 60s Romney style old. We are talking pre WWII vintage. Ok so maybe if McCain was the picture of health no big deal, but Jesus Christ on cracker he’s had cancer five times. Plus the job of the president isn’t exactly low stress. McCain doesn’t even campaign on weekends cause he’s so old. He does get points for answering the phone at 3 am because based on all my scientific research people that old get up really early. Hopefully shit doesn’t go down after Wheel of Fortune is over, because I’m pretty sure by that point in the night McCain will be getting tucked in by Sarah Palin.
So anyway my point is McCain has a damn good shot of dying while in office, and do we really want a self proclaimed Hockey Mom, who’s favorite meat is moose, who’s original life long ambition was to be an ESPN sports caster. So if she’s VPilf and McCain has a better than average shot of dying in office, there are good odds she will become president QED. Thus the experience question, the one thing I thought McCain really had going for him, is off the table. Since if for the last I dunno six thousand four hundred and thirty two years (my estimation may be off), all NObamanites have been claiming he lacks experience they are all full of shit for now supporting Governor Palin. Palin doesn’t have ANY. Don’t give me shit about her governing for 2 years, when her state has less people than Fort Worth, TX. Honestly if the roles were reversed you would be constantly mocking a democratic pick with as little experience as Palin even if the presidential nominee was someone like Biden. Ok so anyway a question of experience is off the table.
God I’ve ranted so long I’ve forgotten what I was talking about. I guess my point here is I want someone better than me for President. I want a guy who got his Juris Doctor from Harvard, not a communications degree from Idaho or someone who finished 894 of 899 from the United States Naval Academy who also happens to be an Adulterer *Cough McCain Cough*.
Oh by the way this crap McCain said Obama would rather lose a war than lose an election. McCain would rather pick an unqualified VPilf than lose an election. Talk about pandering. Don’t believe me? he met her once maybe twice before picking her. Why pick someone qualified when you could try to get Hillary Voters. Sadly I don’t know if the Hillary voters are smart enough to realize they would vote for someone who is the exact opposite of the person they were supporting, well besides the whole vagina thing.
P.S. I went from a 5% chance to no way in hell am I voting for McCain yesterday.
VPilf? HA HA HA HA HA!
Good analysis. I loved it. Much more so than the ones on CNN.

the same rhetoric that pissed you off when people talked about hillary and obama is becoming the rhetoric you are using…which leaves you looking like you are playing intellectual catch with the big-media pundits/idiots…
btw – as usual, my vote won’t matter as i live in a state that votes heavily democratic…what a swing from IN! but even then, i still have to give cred to people who deserve it. and shouldn’t you at least wait for the debates to happen before you draw an opinion on her stances – albeit politicians lie quite a bit during these highly-staged events. just because you haven’t seen much about her yet doesn’t mean she can’t be extremely capable – although I have to admit I am hessitant to vote for a woman due to the fact that they aren’t held on equal ground as men across the world.
Also what is your take on Obama’s initial stance on the Russia/Georgia incident? I personally see nothing but problems in this response (specifically: “Now is the time for Georgia and Russia to show restraint and to avoid an escalation to full-scale war”). Putin, being a perfect product of the cold-war (and I agree with the McCain KGB line), will not pay attention to this weak talk put up by Obama. And more importantly, foreign relations is essentially his major acting role as president…and he screwed the pooch on this exemplar case big by hardly knowing the situation. but that’s just my take…
also – this kills me. “change we can believe in” – taking $22M from lobbyists with McCain only taking $8.5M. i don’t buy it. http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/sectors.php?sector=K

Well in my defense wojo the main point of the rant was to say McCain can’t use the experience argument anymore. I suppose I should put a none ranty analysis of the candidates up one day. I think I just may have gotten a bit distracted in the joy of the rant. I really did try hard to find stories on what she believes in. I didn’t even mention she was a pro creationist.
Besides the debate will be a farce, there’s no way Biden can debate her without looking like a giant Bully. And now that I’ve said it, the exact opposite will happen.

The contribution numbers might be a bit misleading, as they combine lawyers and lobbyists into a single group. According to factcheck.org, Obama has taken only $162K from people meeting the CRP definition of lobbyists. A better indicator might be money from PACs: Obama has taken less than $2K, and McCain has taken over $900K. Still, both are small amounts compared to the totals for each campaign.

Did you seriously just suggest that Clinton voters are too stupid to see the differences between Clinton and Palin? So the only reason people voted for Clinton is because she is a woman? So I guess with your logic the only reason you voted for Obama is because he is a man. It is troubling/sad/frustrating/insulting to me that some people accuse all Clinton voters of only liking her because of her sex. I just really feel that people that suggest that are being unfair. 🙁

P.S. Although I do not support ageism, I could not help to think your comment about McCain and Wheel of Fortune was very funny. 🙂

Ouch Chelsea, you make an excellent point. I guess what I am really referring to are those lovely PUMA woman who are all over the TV right now. But you are right it would be an insult to the intelligence of all democratic woman to assume they would vote for Palin based on her vagina. I guess my main goal is to insult the PUMA movement.

Lolz. The democratic pick was exactly that, but for President instead of VP. Oops.
Commence flame war.

Had to respond. I sure hope Hillary supporters are smart enough. Palin, isn’t exactly a moderate on key women’s issues. I was sort of surprised by the pick because McCain had experience on his side, by picking her that issue sort of gets knocked out as an issue. And even if you wanted to say she had equal experience, the election is in two months and it isn’t enough time I feel to really get to know what she stands for. Last comment, her idea about “Community Organizers not real responsibility” I think it was a badly mad comment when O’Bama’s actions probably helped more thousands of individuals and lets remember Wasilla , Alaska has around 10,000 people if that.

Population of Alaska is 655,435.
