So this has been a long time in coming, mostly because I’ve been pretty busy the last two weeks, but because of overwhelming boredom, I’ve decided to sit down and blog about my fabulous Miami trip. Who ever didn’t know, I was in Miami for my grandma’s 90th birthday spectacular. I drove down to Moline Friday morning, and after about six hours of travel I went from being in sub freezing weather to gorgeous 70 degree sunshine. Well like an hour of sunshine because the sun set shortly after my arrival.
The following day I met up with my cousins and went to an amazing Jewish deli. Surprisingly Iowa is completely devoid of good Jewish delis, who would have guessed. After playing a mean game of shuffle board, a sport normally reserved for the geriatric inclined, my family met up with my cousins at their house to have dinner. Shortly after our arrival we realized we were running low in the beer department, so my cousin Ben and I, went to the local liquor store and bought all of their Blue Moon and Mike’s Hard Lemonade (My boss/older cousin was paying). The best part of the alcohol run was using the race car grocery kart to bring all the booze to the car.
So after a drunkenly merry night of beer and salmon, the younger cousins in the group decide we should go clubbing down in South Beach! So we put on our most trendy looking outfits, which was hard since I packed for my grandma’s birthday party not for impressing the slutty ladies in south beach. So we drove, and drove, and then drove some more, and finally got downtown. We parked, hopped out, and stood at a nameless night club surrounded by, I swear to god, the most beautiful yet completely stupid people on Earth. So we waited for an hour and after a realization that we just didn’t make the cut for this particular night club we moved on. Personally I believe it’s because the girls we were with, weren’t wearing low cleavage and high skirts, but since you know, I shared blood with them, I was ok with that. So we walked around for a bit, and found a club that was more accepting and headed in. First off, $20 to get in to a club is a rip off. If I wanted to go somewhere with loud music and dim lighting I should just go back to a Pike party. So we get in, its crowded, its loud, the music was pretty bad, it was spectacular. LoL. My cousin Dan went f’en crazy to the techno music and danced up a storm. It was great because even though the room was packed, no one was dancing. I guess everyone is too cool to bust a move. Well since we were from the Midwest and didn’t care, we definitely got on our groove.
So around 3ish, 4ish, god only knows, we head back to stay at my Cousins place. At first I thought we were just staying at their friend’s empty apartment. Little did I know, it was their recently deceased friend’s parent’s apartment. SO basically I was sleeping in an untouched dead person apartment. There was food still in the cabinets *shudder*. The next day after getting some lochs and cream cheese, another amazing Jewish food, we headed over to celebrate at my grandma’s party. The party was quite fun, full of food, a power point presentation done by me, and a crap ton of old people. The PowerPoint presentation was a hit. The weekend was a blast, and besides having to chip away two inches of ice off my car without a coat when I got back, I couldn’t have asked for a better time.
