First off you always forget something when traveling. This weeks forgetfulness was brought to you by not bring my very nice Tour Book. Lame. Anyway got to Chicago spent the night with some of Greg´s friends. Otherwise would have suffered mega parking fees in O´hare.
Drove there the next day got in several hours in advance, and to our surprise it took like 20 minutes to check in and get to the gate, What happened to inappropriate body scanning and long lines? One thing that was odd, was we were told once in Mexico we had to have our bags inspected by customs before we could transfer to Costa Rica. We boarded our flight and were off to Mexico. Nothing crazy happened, but when we went to get our bags they were no where to be season. We didn´t freak out too badly. We with in reason for expecting to not have any clothes for two weeks.
Eventually we said F´it and ran to our transfer. Eventually after an hour delay we got to Costa Rica in one piece, and amazingly enough so did our luggage. Apparently everyone lied to us and they automatically checked it through. THANK GOD! We left the airport and since we were an hour late, guess what we didn´t have? Airport transfer. Left without since it was 1am. Lame, some guy with our names scribbled on a piece of paper came running up to us. I was very very leery, but greg seemed cool with it /Sigh. The guy sort of demanded a tip and since I didn´t understand the current as tired threw him 5000 Colognes, seemed small. Turns out I gave him a 10$ tip for carrying my bag 30 feet. Epic fail. We got in to the taxi and the guy sped off. He was ignoring signs, running red lights, all while I was thinking this asshole is going to murder us.
Legitimately surprised, he took us to the hotel for a mere 26$ (still not sure if he screwed us on that) We got our room, separate from the hotel and covered in bars 😛 Starting to pass out, only to realize our neighbors though our very thin walls were screwing the night away. Thank the lord for headphones. Sad to say, a very interesting start.
