Oh man its that time of year its Summerfest! West Seattle Junction shuts down and the entire community comes out to celebrate. Its amazing. The weather was hot but still reasonable. This is the first year Teddy could really participate. There’s this amazing bounce slide that he must’ve climbed 20x. Aka he basically climbed 200 vertical feet in an hour. That kid was SPENT. Honestly its been a day since we did it and he’s still acting out of it. I asked if him arms were tired and he keeps saying “I’m good” so ya know one day he may be able to describe being sore. Ella loved it too, though she could only do bouncey thing and she had zero patience for lines. It was like watching a zombie hoard clawing their went to the front of something so much screaming and weird over dramatic poses. We finally did get to the front though and I joined Ella in her slow but steady climb up the bouncy castle. A lot of butt pushing on my end. I also had to break my cardinal rule and slid down with her on my lap.
There was different moment when we were all eating at the food court, and these just peak 12 year olds start attacking the porta potties. At once point one pushed it so hard it lifted off the ground 6 inches and which point Kate and I simultaneously let out our loudest guttural parent growl, telling them to stop. Kate then proceeded to yell “Where is your Mommy” which was not (or maybe as exactly) effective as one would think. Eventually she did suggest finding the police at which point the 12 year olds bravery vanished and he fled in to the crowd. There’s nothing like the power trip of yelling at a douchey jr high kid.
Lots of time shopping, I bought a cool sleeping fox tshirt. Got to hand with Schroeder and Alesso. Did a double date to New Luck Toy which was amazing as always. And got a bit wine drunk on their roof. Today we were way too exhausted to do anything so we called it and just hung out at home. Regardless I would give my experience a solid A. Westfest is best fest in West Seattle!
