Oh poor blog how neglected are you… So much has happened in 6 months since my last writing it’d be ridiculous to try to recount it all here. Lets talk about some of the more interesting events.
I am officially Yoga certified. Well sort of. I finished the training got my 200 hour cert from Hot House, but still not officially registered with Yoga Alliance. There’s some sketchyness going on about the validity of the teacher training, but I’m letting all the other teachers figure it out and then I will follow there lead. I love teaching though, I taught a few times at Hot House, but my limited schedule makes it pretty hard to do this regularly. Instead I’ve been teaching a class once a week in Cedar Rapids its started with just my friends who I knew well, but has expanded to second ring friends and even just randoms. I avg class is about 5-10 people which is pretty awesome considering I get 0 support from the gym owner. Still not making money but honestly this is a low priority from my yoga class.
I got a new Job! My old IA dept was pretty much dissolved in May, but as soon as I heard word of this going down I immediately started applying for jobs elsewhere. First applied to work in John Davidson’s department. They for the most part offered me a software lead role working on helicopter cockpits. At first I was like w00t, but then I on a whim applied randomly to ATC in the simulation department. It seriously went down like this.
HR: Hey we want to set up and interview
Me: Ok but I have another offer practically on the table
Two days later I did a 4 round interview, the next day I had an offer, day after I accepted, and 2 weeks later I was transferred. Crazy! Thank god because my old boss felt pretty worthless and I feel so much more excited about coming to work than I ever used to be. Plus working in ATC is like working in the Google version of Rockwell Collins. Total freedom, working on cool stuff, even applied for my first patent. For notoriety sake it was a Stateful Cross Domain Guard, looks at packets of data as a series instead of as independents. Working at ATC is just one more step in to my awesomeness of awesome resume.
Next more important thing… I met my clone aka sadly married soul mate. FYI I know she’s married I have no intention of attempting to mess that up, despite all my friends telling me I will. I met Jessica “Mob Riot” Graham in the MBA (I gave her the Mob Riot nickname, she gave me mine of Firestarter) We took this leadership class together, and we both got identical scores on the Enneagram test. We were both 7s. She opened saying she never thought she’d meet a true 7, but then she met me. Its amazing how utterly in sync we are. Its actually a bit creepy. We had to give a presentation together 15 minutes after meeting, and we literally finished each other sentences the whole time. Everyone told me I had to kidnap and then force her to marry me after class. It took a lot of willpower but I resisted. Its weird though, she’s honestly maybe the first person since Beth and David Bander who I truly meshed with in a long time. I think if it wasn’t for Jessica I wouldn’t get excited about anything in my life right now, but for some reason talking to her makes me happy like I haven’t been in a while. I wish I could get her to come out post work more and bring her husband.
Last thing of mention. I meet a ex finish pop star / model. Super awesome, funny, and ridiculously hot. Only did three dates, but they were all very successful. I think ruined any potential we could have possibly had with my neediness and wussitude. My failure there inspired me to buy a book called “The Game” by Neil Strauss. I think Kristina Rautiainen is a lost cause, but I will learn and become a better man from it. Besides if all else fails I vowed that if I wasn’t madly in love next summer after I graduate I am going to leave Iowa.
Ok that’s it hopefully I won’t let as much dust gather next time 😛
