It was a long journey but I’m finally here. I started traveling at about 6pm on Thursday, and finally arrived at about noon on Sunday. I think I spent almost 50 hours on a plane or at an airport. I’ve never felt so trapped than on that damn flight from NYC to Bangkok.
So we arrived, and I passed out right away. I woke at like 6 just in time for our first meeting. I met our guide and our group and everyone seems really cool. We got some dinner and hit up a very fun vietnamese bar, where I taught all the aussies how to play Chandelear. Everything is so cheap here I just want to buy everything.
Today I awoke to some strange vietnamese lady singing and apparently a news broadcast over a loud speaker outside my window. Definitely a great wakeup call. Got some food and went with the group to see the literature museum. Hanoi Hilton, and Ho Chi Minhs Mousleum. The Hanoi Hilton was filled with vietnamese propoganda so I really feel like a was missing some good information.
Afterwards we went to this huge lake and went shopping at this pretty posh mall. I swear the most dangerous thing in Hanoi is crossing the street. I litterally close my eyes and pray as I walk because apparently jumping out of the way of the million + vespas is more dangerous. Either way if I die thats how I’m going out. Anyway I have to go catch a sleeper train to Hue. So in honour of my new Aussie mates…
Cheers,
