I finally got the internet at my apartment, and after got 2 weeks without I realized how nice it is to have it around, but also how unnecessary it has become. For the last couple of weeks I’ve been keeping myself so busy with other stuff, that I started to not notice its lack of presence. Oddly enough, despite my massive reservations, Cedar Rapids is starting to grow on me. The city is fairly large, not huge, but homey. Plus I seem to have lots of friends near by that seem to be up for most anything.
This past weekend, was amazing. Greg came for a visit from the Cities, and we hung out with his old roommate skinner the entire time. We hit up a few bars, which weren’t nearly as overpriced as I had feared. We saw Theory of a Deadman play some pretty stellar sets at this lil bar downtown. The place was pretty packed though not overwhelming. Afterwards we partied a bit, and crashed at my place. The next day Me, Greg, Skinner, and some of Skinners friends all went to a beach a lil north of Cedar Rapids, and by Beach I mean large amount of sand dumped near a big lake, to create the impression that I wasn’t at the farthest point in the country from the oceans. While we were there we met some really awesome peeps and played volleyball with them for like three hours.
That night the girls we met came over to Skinners apt and we all hung playing poker and talking till like four in the morning. I haven’t done something like that in such a long time it was super refreshing. It gave me a chance to really connect with the guys I was hanging out with, and get to know the girls pretty well. At least I hope, my standard guy intelligence may be misleading me. Next day Skinner, Skinner’s bro, Greg, and I drove to Skinners parents’ house just north of Waterloo. It was so amazing; first I’ve never really chilled out at a country house, where everyone owns a barn and 3 acres of land. Second Skinner has five Brothers and a Sister, and there all running around being crazy. There was just so much life flowing through that house I felt energized. Afterwards Skinner and I parted ways with Greg, and we came back to Cedar Rapids to our respective jobs.
Overall the weekend was very kick ass, and I don’t think it could have gone better. I hope your summer’s are all going as well as mine, and I look forward to seeing all of you at some point this year!

I would just like to second Alex’s statement that it was a very kick ass weekend. Although the cops showing up on Saturday night with the ladies present didn’t help things too much…added a little level of paranoia which i didn’t want, but whatever. All is well. Oh, and i wish that i wasn’t so forget full and left half of my stuff in Iowa…grrr!!! Hey Alex, did you notice how only one of Skinner’s brother’s had his shirt ON?! We always make fun of skinner at school for never wearing a shirt…it’s just something that you don’t do at their house…well except for Sarah (hehe). Well, gotta sleep…i am going to put in 27 hours of OVERTIME this week…ain’t that some shit?
