After seeing Garden State all I have to say is I’ve never felt so touched before. All my life I’ve had one main fear. Not those tiny insignificant ones like heights or spiders but a genuine fear that will wake me up at night with my skin soaked in sweat and that’s the fear of leading a meaningless life. The main character struggles throughout the movie looking for some meaning. After coming home for his mother’s funeral he comes upon his friends that he hasn’t seen for 9 years, only to realize that all of them are empty shells who rely on drugs for enjoyment.
Enter Natalie Portman, my dream girl, she creates an awakening in Zach Braff that he hasn’t felt in years. Sort of like a joy he’s never known. The story then begins to chronicle the growing relationship he has with this girl, and Braff coming to grips with his life.
I am by no means educated enough to know what good writing or directing is, but I know that I liked this movie a lot and that I hope you all go out and see it
